Investor profile
Mitiska (Geuten Family Office) is a Dilbeek, Belgium-based single-family office. Established formally in 1990 and formerly a publicly listed holding company on the Brussels Stock Exchange from 1999 until its delisting in 2009, Mitiska is today the private investment vehicle of the Geuten family, led by Executive Chairman Luc Geuten. The firm traces its origins to 1975, when Luc Geuten co-founded Carpetland in Belgium in partnership with the Danish Jensen Taepper group, growing it into one of Europe's leading specialty retail chains. Following the delisting in 2009, Mitiska refocused exclusively on private capital allocation across three core asset classes: private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. Mitiska operates as an active, value-add investor, bringing capital, operational experience, and sector expertise to help portfolio companies and real estate assets reach their next phase of development. The firm pursues investment opportunities both directly and indirectly, participating in private equity, real estate, and infrastructure funds as well as direct co-investments. In 2012, Mitiska co-founded Mitiska REIM alongside Axel Despriet, a dedicated real estate investment management venture that has since become the leading specialist investor in convenience-based multi-use locations across Western, Central, and Eastern Europe. Mitiska REIM has raised multiple institutional funds, completed a €40 million bond issuance in 2018, and today manages a portfolio of 94 properties representing over 1,200,000 square metres of gross leasable area across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Its institutional partners include Ardian, Sequoia, and Partners Group. With over 40 investments and 23 exits across its history, Mitiska has built a diversified portfolio spanning specialty retail, financial services, consumer goods, and real estate. Notable past holdings include AS Adventure, Brantano, Carpetland, Heytens, Innogenetics, Nanocyl, Recticel, Van De Borre, and Vendis Capital. The firm's investment philosophy is grounded in entrepreneurship and long-term partnerships, with a preference for active ownership and operational engagement. Mitiska also supports socially responsible investing through its YouStart initiative. Its current fundraising activity includes Mitiska REIM's third flagship fund, MEREP 3, targeting €300 million or more in convenience retail real estate across Europe.
