Investor profile
Decided to shift its residential expansion to Poland and the US as it sees too many political restrictions in its German home market. Trei's development pipeline in the three countries together shrank by €300m to €1.7bn in the first half of the year. This was due to completions, but also a reluctance to take on further German projects. After selling the new-built-portfolio Best of Berlin, Trei is still working on a €500m German residential pipeline that includes six planned projects in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf and Wiesbaden. The firm is less affected by the latest rate increases than other developers, as it has land from its retail past and usually doesn't need to acquire building plots. However, it won't bring more projects forward at the moment because of the political difficulties and increased building costs. Earlier this year, it cancelled plans for a €32m development at Hermann Hesse Strasse in Berlin-Pankow because of its low return prospects.
